The top-ranked Tigers have done it again. The Auburn men's golf team won the SEC championship on Sunday, defeating Vanderbilt in the match play final in St. Simon's Island, Georgia.

The final featured a showdown between the two top-ranked teams in the country, and the Tigers soundly defeated No. 2 seed Vanderbilt.

For Auburn, it is the fifth SEC championship in program history. Auburn's Jackson Koivun also won the SEC Championship singles title at the end of stroke play before the match play round began.

On Sunday, five golfers from Auburn competed against five golfers from Vanderbilt in the match play final. Koivun rolled around the court again and beat his opponent by seven strokes with six to go. Carson Bacha went with his opponent to the 18th hole but won 1-1. Then Josiah Gilbert, 3x at No. 16, watched his opponent bogey and give Auburn the championship.

Auburn, ranked No. 1 nationally, entered the SEC Championships having won four straight tournaments to complete its regular-season schedule.

In the SEC Championship, Auburn defeated Alabama 3-2 in the match play quarterfinals and defeated Arkansas 4-1 in the semifinals to reach the finals.

What's next?

Auburn now awaits the NCAA postseason selection show and its goal for the NCAA regional round. The selection show will take place on May 1st.

The national championship tournament will take place May 24-29 in Carlsbad, California.
