Hey, RotoBallers! I would like to formally introduce myself, my name is Jon Irvin. Some of you may know me from the Discord channels and know that I love breaking down DFS rosters, especially in the MLB and NHL. I enjoy deep dumpster diving and look forward to helping find the insignificant, overlooked and unwanted games. I play primarily on DraftKings, so some of my picks are more tailored to their points/prize system, but a good spot is a good spot regardless of the platform.

Welcome back to the discount shelf! Today's DFS content covers the NHL Playoffs for both DraftKings and FanDuel Monday, April 29, 2024. We're nearing the end of the first round tonight and a few teams are trying to stay alive, especially TB, which is on the verge of elimination.

NHL DFS Analysis and Tips for 4/29/24

Playoff hockey is a little different than the regular season. I shy away from specific line assignment and focus more on the TOI of the players. Ultimately, we're looking for the most ways to earn fantasy points. These opportunities only arise if there is enough time on the ice. I focused more on showdowns rather than the entire list, which suits my style better. Don't be afraid to leave out goalkeepers when building a lineup, as the price of goalkeepers is extremely high, the risk seems to be too high for the reward. Here are a few lineups I put together to give you an idea of how I construct things.

DraftKings and FanDuel Goalies – NHL DFS Picks

Andrei Vasilevskiy TBL – DK $7.2K || FD $6.5K

Opponent – Florida Panthers

Tampa is on the verge of elimination and needs a big game from Vasilevskiy. Florida has been scoring goals all season long and a consistent amount of shots should be in play again tonight.

Others to consider: Semyon Varlamov VGK (DK $7.8k || FD $8.0k)

DraftKings and FanDuel Centers – NHL DFS Picks

Anton Lundell – DK $4.1K || FD$5,0,000

Opponent – Tampa Bay Lightning

With Sam Bennett on the shelf, Lundell gets a chance to jump into the second line by pairing with Vergaeghe and Tkachuk, which is a huge boost. Anton also runs on the 2nd PP unit, giving him more TOI, which as mentioned is key.

Others to consider: Nicholas Paul (DK $4.0k || FD $6.2k)

DraftKings and FanDuel Wings – NHL DFS Picks

Brandon Hagel TBL – DK $4.7K || FD $6.4k

Florida continues to provide its opponents with numerous PP opportunities. Tampa has one of the best PP units in the league, Hagel has now traded with Paul and sits at the helm. Brandon should have a great chance of getting a second assist, at least if he plays one more man with the big guns.

Opponent – Florida Panthers

Others to Consider: Logan Stankoven (DK$3.6k || FD$5.2k)

DraftKings and FanDuel Defensemen – NHL DFS Picks

As for our defender, we will focus on both sides of the Vegas vs. Dallas game. Both teams are filled with blueliners who eat up a lot of minutes and are active in both shots and blocks.

Chris Tanev DAL – DK $3.4K || FD $4,0,000

Opponent – Vegas Golden Knights

Tanev ate up a lot of time and blocked shots considering how cheap he still is. We don't need Chris to light the lamp for value tonight. The block bonus on DK is very likely possible.

Others to consider: Mikhail Sergachev TBL (DK $3.2k || FD $3.5k)
