Fantasy Alert: NFL Scout Predicts Ray Davis for James Cook's Vulture TDs with Bills | News, results, highlights, statistics and rumors

Ray Davis, the Buffalo Bills' 2024 fourth-round draft pick, could reportedly make a significant impact in fantasy football as a rookie.

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, an anonymous veteran NFL scout sees Davis playing a key role with the Bills in his debut season, saying, “A great addition to.” [James] Cook and should get a lot of goal line and short yard work, which should lead to some touchdowns.

Fowler noted that Davis runs with power thanks to his 5-foot-7 and 220-pound weight, giving him a very different body type than Cook, the Bills' No. 1 running back, who stands at 5-foot-7 is listed as weighing 190 pounds.

Davis was a well-traveled player in college, spending time at Temple, Vanderbilt and Kentucky and having at least one season of 1,000 or more receiving yards at each of those schools.

As a freshman at Temple in 2019, Davis rushed for 936 yards and eight touchdowns and also had 15 receptions for 181 yards and two scores.

In 2022, Davis recorded 1,042 yards and five touchdowns on the ground and 29 catches for 169 yards and three more touchdowns at Vandy.

Last season as a senior at Kentucky, Davis set career highs in all areas with 1,129 yards and 14 touchdowns, averaging 5.7 yards per carry. He added 33 receptions for 323 yards and another seven touchdowns.

While Davis is an older prospect by NFL Draft standards at 24, his production was too great for the Bills to ignore as they selected him at No. 128 overall.

Cook, the Bills' second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, figures to be the clear starter in 2024 after earning Pro Bowl honors last season.

The former Georgia standout averaged 4.7 yards per carry and ranked fourth in the league in rushing yards with 1,122 yards. He was also a key factor in the passing game with 44 catches for 445 yards and six total touchdowns.

Cook was more of a yard accumulator than a touchdown scorer, as the Bills typically opted to put the ball in quarterback Josh Allen's hands near the goal line, as evidenced by his 15 rushing touchdowns.

Allen's size, strength and athleticism will undoubtedly continue to make him a preferred option in the red zone, but Davis can help take some of the pressure off of him and Cook.

With journeyman Ty Johnson seemingly cleared for the No. 3 running back role, Davis has a clear path to RB2 as a rookie, and that should be a fantasy-relevant spot in the Bills' high-octane offense.
